US Highway 285 South near Mile Marker 248

Morrison, ColoradoMar 16, 20083 Comments

285 South-bound, just coming into the foothills west of Denver, past exit intersection to colorado hwy 8, in townMorrison, Colorado. Morrison cops use section for nuisance taxation and revenue purposes, yet seldom ever respond to any of the accidents. Emergency response in accidents is actually handled by Indian Hills, CO fire & rescue who are NOT part of Morrison.

8/13/2012 I have been a resident of Morrison for 10 years and for the last 10 a resident of an adjacent town. I have often dined, entertained, gassed up, brought friends and visitors to town. NO MORE!! I am so sick and tired of the Morrison Fund Raisers that I not patronized the town since the illegal search of my person on Main Street a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I have to drive 285 of through town to get home.. My boycott of Morrison business was reinforced and reminded by a ticket a couple of nights ago by a fairly hostile female Fund Raiser who was on the side of the road with her lights on for NO Apparent Reason. She then pulled up in back of my slow moving horse trailer and fired up her sirens casing the living cargo to freak out and destabilize the platform. Of course she issued me a summons for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. In other words I was supposed to switch lanes while traveling at 35 MPH into the passing lane since she had her lights on while parked alone on the side of the road and sitting in the car. These fund raisers are hostile and dangerous. Please get the heck out of my neighborhood and let me enjoy Morrison again

I've seen Morrison cops assisting with accidents and helping with flat tires, etc. And if an accident is on the Southbound side of 285, it would take way too long for Indian Hills fire to get (north 285) clear down to hwy 8, go over the 285 overpass, then back up to the crash. More likely to be West Metro fire, and higher up, Elk Creek fire & rescue.

1st issue - This is the most corrupt little town there is. My son, who just received his permit was driving his 96 pickup truck, regular cab. I was sitting in the middle, and my husband on the passenger seath. We were heading from Luling to San Marcos, as most that live in that area know, the speed goes from 65, to 55 to 50. My son was still in the 65 mile area, when he was going only 60 and I told him to go the speed limit. His response to me was "there's no one behind me, so I'm not holding up traffic going slower". We then came to the 55 limit, and he was at 55 well before we got there. Here comes the officer, from the opposite side of the road, turns his lights on, flips around behind us and pulls us over. I tell my son don't worry, you haven't done anything wrong. I was monitoring his speed very closely the entire time. the officer comes up and asks us if we knew the speed limit here. I said yes, very well. it was 65, dropped to 55 and up ahead it will be 50. We live in Lockhart. He then asks do we know how fast we were going, and I respond yes, 55 exactly. My son has his permit, and we're out on a driving lesson. His response to me was, oh, it would be ok if you were going 5 over. I responded, we were not, we were going exactly 55. I know, I was watching it the entire time! He then makes a comment that his radar must have picked up someone behind us then. Hmmmm, really? there was NO ONE behind us. Remember my son's comment of why he was going less than the speed limit. They are crooked! 2nd Issue - A few months later, a young college student that stays at our place was pulled over for a tail light that was out. She was sure it was ok, since she had just had her inspection. So she said no problem, I'll fix it right now. She jumped out of her car to go fix it. He then decided to search her car, and decided he needed back up because she was acting funny... they searched her car and found a prescription bottle that contained her prescription, two different strengths, but same prescription, and a B vitamin. So they arrested her for possesion of a controlled substance without a prescription. Again, her name was on the bottle, and on another prescription bottle in the vehicle, along with a receipt she had from the drug store for the prescription sitting on her seat. A night in jail, a towing bill for her car, and now she gets to go fight it. I'm sure it will be thrown out, but how does that replace missing a day of college, her towing bill and all her other inconviences? They are crooked!
