Stringtown was one of the worst speedtraps in Oklahoma and due to its reputation the highway department raised the speed limit on US 69 from 45 to 60. Even with the raised limits this small town of less then 1000 people maintain a "fleet" of unmarked police cars and on any given day when your driving north or south on US69 you can see one of Stringtown’s patrol cars either in pursuit of or issuing speeding tickets. Its no longer as bad as it was but fair warning to all motorists… Stringtown is still a speed trap. Post Script… only miles down the road is another trap… Kiowa Oklahoma.
