This occurred several years ago. Was stopped around 2:30 am for 40 mph in posted 35 zone. Was not cited. At the time I was in uniform (Columbus P.D.) and going home from a job. Will admit that I was surprised I was stopped for 5 mph over the limit at that hour. That would not happen in a large city. Years after that I was pulled over for 28 mph in a posted 25 mph zone on a different street. When the uniform officer approached me I asked why he stopped me. Said I was doing 28 in a posted 25 zone. I said you have to be kidding. About that time he looked inside my car and heard a police call. I was on duty driving an unmarked police car. I was a little upset and proceeded to tell him how "chicken" it is to stop violators 2-5 mph over the limit. I won’t tell you what Columbus’ normal over-the-speed-limit range is, but believe me it is well over 5 mph.
