Waldo. Starke and Baldwin, Florida are notorious, legendary speed traps. These towns fund their budgets with the ticket pad and show no mercy. These police departments make it up as they go along. Infractions are real or imagined. Avoid these towns at all costs…..burn the gas and take the long way around.

I was pulled over just outside of Waldo and the state is pursuing criminal charges against me for my expired tag. The tag is less than 6 months and in the laws it clearly states that "the offense is NOT a criminal offense. The fine is $100.00 and a non moving violation only if the driver has not been charged with the same offense in the same state", which I have not. The officer checked the criminal offense box on the summons and now it's costing me $1500.00 to fix this!! Stay out of Waldo!!
I was also ticketed for going under 10 over the speed limit. The officer gave me a ticket for $245.00 and put down mandatory court appearance. I avoid Waldo because of this. It was at 8pm when I was pulled over. The officer was making up stuff as he went along apparently!!
