West of the old Ledgewood Traffic Circle on Rt 46 West
The DOT recently redesigned the Ledgewood Circle into some other geometric shape. In doing so, they’ve added a third lane at the end of Route 10 West where it meets Route 46 West. The lane serves no purpose whatsoever, it’s not a turn nor acceleration lane – it inexplicably appears at the light and vanishes a few hundred yards later, merging into the right lane. People not wishing to wait behind the long lines of traffic in the left two lanes line up in this far right lane, even though it ends soon. Roxbury Police set up at Parkhurst Supply on the right – where the lane ends – and nabs people for passing on the right or whatever else they can think of. Ditto at the Roxbury Car Wash where a similar, inexplicable lane does the same thing – part of the same traffic circle reconstruction by the DOT.
