I would definitely say that Mamou, La is a speed trap town. We are from N. La. and my husband, myself and my son's friend each got a ticket within 1 years time from passing through that town. My husband has never gotten a ticket in his entire life and he's almost 60. That was my second ticket in my 55 years of life. My husband was doing 45 and the cop said he was doing 55. Ridiculous! Who's going to win in that situation? The cop of course. So drivers beware, there's a truck/suv cop parked in front of a mobile home near the highway and it is a speed trap. You better be doing under the speed limit and you better stay on the highway, in other words, don't cross the white line for any reason. I went around someone who was stopped on the highway, I used the shoulder and got a $170 ticket. I thought it was illegal to stop on a highway and hold up traffic, so I went around him and got a ticket.

The speed limit is NOT a suggestion. And its POSTED therefore NOT a trap. Just pay attention...or a ticket.
