Bluff City, Tennessee Speed Traps

The signs are not well posted and difficult to see if you are in the left lane. I was keeping up with traffic and was going 57 which is 2 over the speed limit at 55 speed limit just before the cameras and the NEW 45 limit. So Bluff City, I will pay your "Speed Trap" $90 fine but will never stop and support any stores in your little hick town. Real smart making a lot of folks mad who would be willing to support the local merchants. The city is overwhelmed with the number of tickets, probably because they operate a true old fashioned SPEED TRAP without exploring ways of making money through other means. I would not have sped through your town if the 45 speed limit sign was highlighted with a warning. Isn’t their a more logical way to get everyone to obey the speed and not just issue 1000’s of tickets and make people really MAD!

They got me with their zero tolerance. We kept the speed to as close to the posted limit as possible but even 1 mile over and especially with out of state plates I got nailed. Had planned to return to the area but NOT NOW or ever. They may get the fine from me but will loose out in money I would have spent in the area. Tell that to their kids when they don’t get the hours at McDonalds or wherever they might work that Daddy is driving the tourists away.

This speed trap is locally known and now enhanced by the use of an American Traffic Solutions speed camera setup. The setup uses induction loops and a doppler-flash method to “enforce” with zero-tolerance. Two cameras are in use. One for each direction, and they are facing with the direction they are monitoring.

The cops don’t even bother monitoring traffic here any more because of the camera.

The best way is to avoid Bluff City altogether, and keep your money out of the town.
