Abilene, Texas Speed Traps
Texas Hwy Patrol (DPS) runs up and down this area looking for speeders. Mostly before and after 6 am and 6 pm. Working the area that change from 70 to 55 mph at the hill that changes from 2 lane to 4 the most on 351. They also work 1082 at times during the same time as above.
At New Beginnings UPC church at 5535 Buffalo Gap Rd. An officer with a radar gun pointed out the window is there at lunch hour very often.
North bound on Hwy 83/84 as you pass the rest area on the right, just over the crest of the hill (accross from the little mom and pop gas station). The officer will be sitting in the rest area behind trees/brush. You won’t see him until you are past him and it’s all over.
at any time of the day or night you will see a policeman useing his Radar gun and stoping speeders. from the corner of So 1st street and all the way down Pioneer Drive. this seems to be a drag strip for some people and I am glad that the policemen are doing their job. this is a neighbor hood type street and there are kids playing. thank you abilene police and keep it up.
Radar trap is ~10-15 miles outside of Abilene beyond the town of Caps. Texas Highway Patrolman sits hidden off to one side constantly getting traffic coming down from high speed runs on the curvy section up in the bluffs and will hit you in the straight away cresting a slight hill. If he’s not spotting he’s at the local gas station a mile down the road killing time with locals swapping stories.
