Allen, Texas Speed Traps
Exchange Boulevard near State Route Greenville Ave. Hwy. 5
It’s usually in the A.M., going to work times. A patrol car sits just off Exchange in the new Kroger parking lot. Usually in front (along side) of the prescription drive in lane. He uses a hand held radar gun, with his car door open. He is shooting the West bound lanes.
Exchange Parkway near Alma Drive
Police sit in the CVS parking lot and catch people running the flashing red lights after midnight.
Bethany Street near State Highway 75
They sit on the south side of Bethany, west of 75, usually in the parking lot near P.F. Changs. Recently they have been further down west, between 75 and Alma.
W. McDermott Drive near Custer Road
W. McDermott dr. between Custer Rd and Twin Creeks/ Suncreek drives, on the west bound side opposite Lakeway drive. This cop usually backs into and hides in that bushy driveway and since its downhill going east, your car will automatically speed up. Next thing… surprise! all you will see is “Cherries and Blueberries””. Best time is during that evening rush hour. Be very careful.”
Ridgeview Road near Custer Road
Two days each month, Allen police set up a speed trap near the Bridgewater Crossing neighborhood. There are two places they sit. During the day, they wait on the corner of Bridgewater and Ridgeview because the speed limit on Ridgeview is 30 but most people drive 45. During the night, they sit on the “bridge”” facing toward the light to catch people coming down the road who haven’t seen the speed limit sign yet. Quite a pricy ticket and here’s the catch: they only appear two days out of each month.”
