Austin, Texas Speed Traps
Police Officer regularly patrols South 1st near Akins high school area. Usually during morning 4-5o’clock weekdays on radar gun duty.
Anytime of the day. Mornings and midday. Some evenings. A motorcycle cop sits in front of the hotel and Denny’s restaurant. A Crown Victoria sits before the Holiday Inn hotel in the driveway, using radar gun. The speed goes from 70 to 55. The cop is always there, most of the time.
The Enfield exit off of Mopac going north has a posted speed limit of 25 mph. About 100 feet off of a highway with a speed limit of 65, the limit drops down to 25! This is an exit with heavy traffic because it leads straight to the state capitol building so weekday mornings this entire road is packed. I see cops sitting behind bushes and on side streets waiting for people to come off of the highway. It isn’t even safe to break that fast coming off of the highway! This exit drives me nuts!
They are hidden at the entrances to Granite Shoals or Glendale subdivision along Avery Ranch Blvd. Usually at night or during early morning commute to school.
Be careful on 183 near the Lakeline Parkway/Pecan Park exit they’re constantly posting up in this area. They use motorcycles and cruisers and like to sit behind the highway signs and on the onramps.
