overpass on HW 377

Brownwood, TexasMar 20, 20131 Comments

The speed limit is 35. The fine is $140+ for speeds over 10% of this. If your speed is 39 that’s a big fine! Sometimes two patrol cars working this section. Big cash cow for the city of Brownwood as there is the hospital, many doctor’s offices and 3 manufacturing plants a little futher south.

Callahan County, City of Cross Plains, Main Street

Road posts 55 mph speed, however, on a curve it posts 30 mph which does not allow the driver to focus on the sign but rather the curve in the road. Easily missed, the radar it poised to catch the driver and not give them time to slow down.

US Highway 377 near County Trunk 45

Brownwood, TexasFeb 22, 20080 Comments

Just south of the 3M plant and the junction with County 45, 377 bears west and heads uphill. The 70MPH zone does not begin until well past the crest of the hill. The natural tendency is to accelerate up the hill because you have left the developed area of town. This is exploited by local traffic enforcement.
