FM 116

This trap is HIGHLY monitored. As you go across the railroad tracks on North 1st street, you will pass 7-11 convience store and then you will pass a church at that point start slowing down because the radar starts there and extends all the way out of the Copperas Cove city limits. Usually they double stack one police by the water plant and then one on the other side of the city limit sign. This trap is monitored regularly through out the day, its the worst trap I know in Copperas cove.

US Highway 190 near FM 2657

Entering Copperas Cove from the west, and before arriving at first traffic light at corner of Hwy 190 and FM 2657, the local police shoot a radar in a westerly direction and catch people speeding. The speed limit drops from 70 to 55 just about a mile or so before FM 2657.
Also, the police set up RADAR on Hwy 190 and in vicinity of Freedom Lane. Usually, they try to hide their police sedan in Mid-Tex repair shop parking lot under a big tree and shoot their RADAR westerly. Speed limit is 55 MPH, and the grade of the downhill slope is steep which allows for cars to almost drift more than 55MPH.
Also, behind Walmart the road from West Fort Hood curves around and leads to a stop sign. Often there will be a motorcycle police office shooting RADAR up the hill toward Fort Hood and trying to catch soldiers driving off post to lunch of going home. Again, soldiers don’t usually complain and it’s easy $$$ for the city of Copperas Cove.

While travelling south on FM 116 from Copperas Cove the speed limit goes from 60 to 45, the road is slightly hilly so you cant see over the hill travelling nort or south and a car sets in the saddle of the two hills to catch you going both ways
