Ennis, Texas Speed Traps
Parking Lot of Calvary Baptist Church
In Ennis on the parking lot of Calvary Baptist Church 3 times a week usually in the evenings around when it starts to get dark. tThis church is located just before the ramp to North I-45 from Ennis.
Interstate 45
On this stretch of highway ALL of the small towns 50 miles or so south of Dallas have local police and local speed limits and they vary. 60mph seems to be the average, slowing from 70mph all the way from Houston. My ticket was from a local police on an overpass with radar gun pointing to the highway so he was hard to spot. Who thinks to look up until it is too late? Just be aware that this area is heavily patrolled.
Interstate 45 N near I-45 adds several lanes
This stretch of interstate is between Corsicana & Ennis (enroute to Dallas) where you go from 4 lanes divided at 70 mph to 10 lanes divided at 55 mph. Various law enforcement entities monitors section. If you are stopped by an Ennis policeman, please be advised that they don’t allow the typical 6 months to address the ticket. Instead, it is 90 days.
State Highway 34 near In Town
As you turn the corner on SH34 in town towards Kaufman there is school zone that is marked by a flashing light. Problem: In early morning hours the sun blocks your view of the flashing light as it is right after you turn the corner. No warnings of a school zone prior to turning at the right light. I’m sure if you are local you are aware of this but if from out of town beware.
I-45, anywhere inside city limits of Ennis
Sunday afternoons are bad, saw 4 cop cars in a 2-mile stretch in this town, all cars different makes so they are hard to spot, they want to get the college kids heading back to Houston, Dallas, and College Station. SLOW DOWN HERE!
