Flower Mound, Texas Speed Traps
FM 2499 near Industrial Boulevard
Just South of Gerault Rd. An officer on foot is at the top a hill with a radar gun clocking the South-bound traffic and he has a 300 yd. view. He radios a motorcycle or car unit at the intersection and they pull out into 2499 before you even see them and pull you over just as you’re crossing into Grapevine city limits.
FM 2499 near Sherri Lane
Typically 2 motorcycle officers are hidden out of view in the dark waiting for the northbound lead cars from the stoplight at 2499 and Aberdeen
McKamy Creek Rd. at Winding Creek Rd.
30mph secondary road surrounded by 40 mph secondary roads (Old Settlers, Simmons, Flower Mound Rd are all 40mph, as is McKamy east of Old Settlers) This section of McKamy drops into a creek bed, and back up the other side. Without braking, most cars pick up 5-10 mph descending the slope; However McKamy is posted 30 in this area – requiring braking effort equivalent to a 20 mph change to remain under the posted limit. Police car with radar hides behind bushes at bottom. Part of this trap is in a school zone; however, the school zone is well-marked with flashing lights and posted 20 when lights are flashing. There is no apparent need for the 30 zone in addition to a well marked school zone. I have been passed on the left by cars wanting to do 40 in the 30 – holding 30mph usually results in 3 to 10 cars sitting on my bumper.
Lake Bluff (between Morris Road and Garden Ridge)
Major thru-way between Morris rd & Garden Ridge Blvd.
Speed limit heavily enforced.
Forest Vista between Garden Ridge and Thrush
Officers commonly hide on the side roads of the neighborhoods across from and adjacent to Forest Vista Elementary. While this commonly occurs during school speed limit times (and they should get people for speeding through a school zone), they often sit there during regular speed times and wait for people. I work at Grapevine Mills mall and take that road on the way, and I see them every once in a while.
