Flower Mound, Texas Speed Traps
Interstate I-35W near Picnic Area
City of Flower Mound annexed a stretch of I-35W which is probably less than a mile long between Northlake and Argyle. I used to drive through there 5 days a week and usually would see a Flower Mound patrol car 1-2 days a week. It is really absurd due to the fact that to actually get into Flower Mound you still have to go about 5 miles east. I’m so glad they are keeping the town citizens safe.
FM 2499 near 3040 Crossing
Heading North on 2499, about 1-3 miles South of 3040 the speed limit is 55. Then the speed limit changes to 45 about 3/4 mile from 3040, but the sign is covered by a big tree/bush (and the speed limit has reciently changed). At night, you don’t see it. Cops hide there and will ticket you at 55. Cops are friendly, but use no descrition.
FM 1171 near Kirkpatrick Road
Just past Parker Square, motorcycle cops will sit on the south side of FM 1171 just West of Kirkpatrick Road and tag Eastbound traffic, about to pass into Lewisville. They sit in the parking lot of the Walgreens, obscured somewhat by trees, fairly far back from the road. They also catch Westbound traffic in the same vicinity. The speed limit is 40 MPH for a 3-lane road with a grass median. The limit for this road would probably be 45 or 50 in most cities, but it can be heavily trafficed, and there are a lot of stop lights East of this area, so 40 MPH is not totally unreasonable.
Corporate Forest Vista Drive near Morris Road
At the intersection of Morris and Forest Vista going North or south bound North of Forest vista there is a little break in the school zone. During the school zone hours there is a cop camping on the median. Don’t speed up once you near the end of the speed zones. Also, don’t speed in school zones in Flower Mound, during school zone times there are always cops nearby.
Gerault Road near FM 3040 and FM 2499
On Gerault Rd. there are several places where cops camp. If traveling Southbound it is a little easier to avoid them unless you are going well over the speed limit.
There is one by the Flower Mound Perfoming Arts Theater (FMPAT). I have seen cops camp behind their mailbox getting people heading Northbound to FM 3040.
There is another one by the baseball field on the East side of the road whether you are going Northbound or Southbound, cops like to camp deep in the parking lot so that you don’t see them until it is too late.
Also going northbound by the baseball field there is a little road on the east (right) that has a big bush infront of it cops camp their as well.
There is another spot on the North West corner of Gerault and Lakeview and they can get you going either North or Southbound.
