Ovilla, Texas Speed Traps

Heading westbound on FM 664 (Ovilla Road) make sure that you slow from (posted) 55 mph to (posted) 45 mph when you cross the intersection of Ovilla Rd. and Westmoreland. Ovilla police park in the Ovilla Road Baptist Church parking lot just waiting for you.

Westmoreland Rd is posted at 45 mph except from: starting at the creek bridge just north of Lariat Trail, all the way to FM 664 (Ovilla Rd). Police will park behind trees next to creek bridge, at the intersection of Hosford Rd & Westmoreland, and as you are heading southbound on Westmoreland and come up the hill, they will be parked in the parking lot of Grace Church of Ovilla. Gotcha!

Just as you come out of Glenn Heights on FM664 the speed drops from 55 to 45 with no warning other than the police officers who set in the Church parking lot or who are driving up and down the road running radar. They will not give any warning tickets and will not allow any slack. My son got one for going 4 miles over the posted speed. The Judge was even shocked at that one and reduced it to $100.00, but did not dismiss.

For a very small police department, somebody is always pulled over by the police in a disproptional degree, to the point that certain policemen give out more tickets than a whole neighboring police department gives in one year.
