Rhome, Texas Speed Traps

Small town gets a great deal of their revenue from their speed traps on Highway 287 north of Fort Worth. A ticket for 79 mph in a 70 mph zone is $141.00. Most areas will let a person off with a warning – especially out of state travelers – for under 10 mph over a posted speed limit. But not this little town. They are always present and always writing high dollar tickets – and love out of state travelers because they know you’re not going to contest the ticket. Their ticket cost are excessive and should be illegal.

On U.S. 287 Rhome Police Department will sit in the median, at night with their lights off waiting for their next victim. There is one officer their that will write anything moving, including his own mother!
