West Columbia, Texas Speed Traps
Highway 36 going North out of West Columbia
Going North out of the City of West Columbia on highway 36 the speed goes from 35 to 45 to 55 to 65. My son was given a ticket for accelerating to 45 when he he was still in the 35 zone after seeing the 45 mph sign. The officer said you can’t go 45 until after the sign.
Hwy 35, E. Brazos and Broad St
Usually it is a regular traffic light. They have made it flashing red and said they don’t know when it will be repaired. It is right on the main street through town. The police man sits in his car on Broad Street and pulls people over who he thinks go through. Thing is…from where he is sitting he can’t see some people stop and he just assumes they go through it and writes them a $188 ticket.
Hwy 36 North of Walmart
A city cop is amost always sitting in the taxadermy parking(near the Texas New-Mexico Poer Company Shop) lot backed in near the fence where you can’t see him until its too late. The speed limit is 45 through there which is way too low, and that is why they sit there and write tickets all day.
State Highway 36
Speed limit on Hwy. 36 from Business 35 (17th Street) to the Bypass 35 (W. Brazos Street) has been lowered from 45 to 35. The town is on one basic side of the highway and there are two traffic lights, so who knows why they lowered it… the high school? Not
