Wichita Falls, Texas Speed Traps
Barnett Road near State Highway Seymour
Barnett Road/Wellington Lane, north from Seymour Highway to FM 367. Wide, perfectly straight road with very little side traffic. Easy 70 mph road, but it’s 55. Texas DPS units work this 3-mile stretch 24/7, almost nonstop.
McNiel Avenue near Whataburger Street
McNiel Avenue runs the full gamut N to S from Seymour Highway to Southwest Parkway, and is posted at 30 MPH. You are strongly encouraged to do just that. Bike cops love to park pretty much out of sight about 1 block North of the entrance to Rolling Meadows. They will burn you and your 45 MPH in a heartbeat….and it’ll happen so fast, you won’t have time to say “cruise control””.”
State Highway 79 near Volunteer Fire Department
The speed limit changes from 70 mph to 55 mph but few people notice.
Professional Drive
They sit in front of the church on Professional Drive and there is a tree there so you can’t see them….and the speed limit is 30!
Leading into Sheppard AFB Boulevard
From Hwy 287 leading into Sheppard AFB, this area is notorious for bike cops. On the North bound side, they like to blend in with the parked vehicles in front of Video Rental joint/Food Barn. They face oncoming traffic clocking you as far back as the VFW where the speed limit drops from 65 to 50….then to 40….then to 30. This location’s intersection is one of the highest accident locations in the city. You would be well-advised to be on your best behavior.
