Quaker Lane near Seminary Road

Alexandria, VirginiaOct 05, 20071 Comments

Both south and north of Seminary Road, northbound traffic on Quaker Lane is monitored frequently, not just at rush hour with handheld radar. As many as three policemen do this as a great revenue source for the city of Alexandria, so that they can be writing two tickets and still troll for a third.

Officers are catching people going to Route One from the GW Parkway and vice versa.

Fairfax County Parkway near Richmond Hwy/Telegraph Rd.

Alexandria, VirginiaJul 02, 20070 Comments

On any given evening, after sunset (9:00PM) and on, you can expect to find either a local, state or military police vehicle almost anywhere between Rt. 1 and Telegraph Rd. After dark it can be virtually impossible to see a vehicle on the shoulders or down In the median (which is where they like to set). If traveling south-bound toward Rt.1, they also like to set just at the foot of the ramp coming from telegraph. Watch your speed here, as this is where most of us tend to pick up speed — out of impatience with those that are conscious of ‘The Man’ just as you come from beneath the Telegraph over pass. Be careful, be safe and do the limit period. Why wait until after a Hefty Ticket to do the right thing.

George Washington Parkway near Marina Drive

Alexandria, VirginiaMay 30, 20070 Comments

During the morning rush hour, Park Police set up on the Southbound side of the GW Parkway in the turn lane for Marina Drive and catch southbound motorists. The officers are generally hidden from view as the road curves slightly.
