Alleghany Avenue near Madison Avenue

Covington, VirginiaJun 30, 20051 Comments

When traveling on Madison Ave.(which to some is Rte. 220 North)you come down a hill…locally know as Town Hill….the speed limit is 25. Coming down the hill is is very hard to mantain this speed. When you get to the bottom of the hill, it runs into Alleghany Ave. On the right there is a home improvement store and the police like to park at it and get you coming off of the hill. There is a lot of traffic here as it leads to The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA and there a lot of tractor trailors heading to the local paper mill.

Interstate 64 near Mile Marker 9 & 10

On I-64 from mm9 and mm10, near Covington, patrol cars often sit in the median at the emergency vehicle turnarounds and use stationary radar before and after a bridge. A very common place to pick up speed due to hills and straightaways. Very hard to place vehicles as well as they like to hide behind hills and spot right when you break over them. I have received two tickets there one at mm9 and one at mm10 going east and west bound.
