Sudley Road near Prince William Hospital

Manassas, VirginiaJun 08, 20040 Comments

The exact location of this trap is on the corner of Sudley Road and Jackson Avenue. At least once or twice every fortnight, there will be a cop, usually in an unmarked Crown-Vic sitting in the parking lot. To my knowledge, it’s a law firm, and it has a parking lot in the front. There are a group of trees that hide the car, so coming from the direction of the hospital, you will not be able to see the car. They usually sit there at nights, always past 11pm. They also have two cops with radars or lasers in the mornings during rush hour. They usually start around six in the morning, and go until about eight or nine. During the morning sessions, they have another unit on the corner of Beauguard Avenue and Sudley Road.

Liberia Ave. between Prince William Parkway and 28

Manassas, VirginiaFeb 02, 20030 Comments

This is a four-lane divided highway with a 35mph limit fed by two roads with 55mph limits (Prince William Parkway and Rt. 234.) The road dips down into a "valley", so the police can radar you coming down the hill from a good distance a way. There’s no warning, if you see them, it’s already too late. It’s very, very tough to go 35 here. Again, Liberia is a 4-lane divided highway, and going 35 seems like a crawl, nevermind the fact that everyone goes 50+ here and you’ll have people flying past you and riding your rear.

Regardless of what everyone else is doing though, let them pass you – they’ll get pulled over. The one time I did get pulled over for going 46 in this zone, the cop acted like I had just killed someone and sounded like a complete automaton, asking me for my license and registration twice even though I was holding it out the window to him before he got to the car. Be aware!
