Main Street near Ace Hardware store

DeForest, WisconsinMar 11, 20190 Comments

The speed limit on Main Street heading north before the intersection with Vinburn Road reduces from 40mph down to 25mph way before the Ace Hardware store and heading south leaving town it stays 25mph well beyond this intersection past Ace Hardware store. Deforest police will often hide near the 25mph sign at quota time and tag drivers going into or going out of town. Drivers local to the town ignore this speed limit as it is unnecessary and unreasonable, given that the intersection with North Town Road at Vinburn Road is an all way stop anyways.

North Town Road (Old 51)

The speed limit on this road used to be 55 given it was the highway . Now it has been converted to a frontage road and the entire road is now a speed trap. I understand the towns want for a reduced speed for safety, but some regions of the road got reduced to 35mph limits and are extremely slow given that there are no houses or sidewalks, just open field. All locals that live in the town end up ignoring the limits and drive at 45-50mph. Deforest police like to camp out at night near these speed zones and can easily tag drivers going 10 to 15 over the “speed limit.”

25 MPH and they do a rolling patrol. Last week 3/4-3/10/12 they had a speed camera up on the 25MPH sign. It is gone today 3/12/12

Just as the highway turns from 2 lanes to single lanes. They sit in the farm machinery lot and watch from both directions. Especially late at night watching for DUI drivers.
