Shawano, Wisconsin Speed Traps
Usually the cop will sit in the empty lot to the left if you’re headed north – just after the bridge.
At the parking lot of a local community theatre there’s a squad car usually sitting early in the morning waiting for drivers that are late to work and go 40-45 miles in a 35 mile zone. They sit all the way by the trees, so if you’re coming from the south, it’s almost impossible to see it. Also, this winter it was impossible to see it coming from any direction due to major snow piles. The car would usually conveniently park in between them.
The cop cars blend in with the snow piles it is not easy to see them. They sit in the parking lot of C and C.
When going West on the Bridge, the speed limit posted is 30. When you get to the end of the bridge, it goes to 45. If you speed up before the end, or don’t slow down when going East before you get to the start, there’s a cop sitting on the West end of the bridge. It’s especially true after school lets out. They’ve been known to pull over busses too!
Don’t speed in Shawano County. I passed a car, was clocked at 67 in a 55 zone, and attempted to get a lawyer to represent me. Attorneys don’t even fight their tickets in Shawano County! Don’t give the "State of Shawano" any of your money.
