Old Moulton Road near Moulton Street   Decatur, Alabama

Traveling NW direction on Old Moulton Road going from the Beltline Highway toward Moulton Street, the speed limit reduces from 45 mph to 30 mph. Soon after the speed limit reduces to 30 mph there is well hidden spot that Decatur Police will park and run radar. I do not understand why the speed is limit is reduced. When traveling in the NW direction you will also will be going down a slight hill. I travel this road every day to and from work. I literally have to slam on my brakes to reduce my speed to 30 mph. I have not been ticketed here for speeding, but constantly see others pulled over. It irritates my everytime I see the police hiding there in this obvious speed trap.

Interstate 65 near Tennessee River Bridge   Decatur, Alabama

Cops sit at end of the I-65 Tennessee river bridge about 1 mile north of the Priceville, AL exit. Unfortunately, you have about three different departments using this spot as a revenue machine. You have the AL State Patrol, the Decatur Police Dept, and the Priceville Police Dept. Neither the Priceville or the Decatur police have any business radaring there except one purpose: revenue generation. They sit there frequently. Sometimes in the AM, usually in the evening at rush time.

Country Club Road near Point Mallard Parkway   Decatur, Alabama

Exiting off of Point Mallard Parkway on to Country Club or coming off of Stratford heading towards PM Parkway you can expect an occasional patrol car to be waiting behind a hedgerow.

Pointmallard Parkway near Regency Boulevard   Decatur, Alabama

The officers will sit on the side of the road, sometimes running radar, sometimes not. The one that got me did not clock me, just gave me a ticket for "too fast for conditions"(it was night).
This is the main way for people to get to a major recreation and tourist attraction in Decatur. Hopefully this ridiculous enforcement will make people stop going to these places.

Hwy 31and Hwy 20, East side of Tennessee River Causeway   Decatur, Alabama

Coming east on hwy 20, just before you get to the causeway the speed limit goes from 65 to 55, and you are joining up with 72 and 31 south as you go across the river. The road dips just before an overpass here and that's where they wait. There is one small sign saying "reduce speed ahead, then it goes to 55, and there they are. Friday and Saturday nights are usually the worst. Sometimes 5 cars or more. Tends to be a real money maker for Decatur, but gives the perception of a hic town looking to get motorists. If you have an out of state tag you are more likely to get a ticket. I was driving a rental with VA plates, there were two vehicles running side by side in front of me, and one behind, but I had the out of state tag. Not to mention that the number 74 in a 55 wasn't right. All vehicles were running less then 70.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
