Grand Parkway between Hwy 90 and Mason Rd

Richmond, TexasJun 15, 20140 Comments

Texas DPS and at times members of the Fort Bend County Sheriff and Precint 4 sit by the merging lanes to catch speeders on the tollroad bridges or the frontage roads. Many of the police shoot Ka radar bands to detect your speed. I have seen them have up to 3 cars per bound lane getting pulled over by one state trooper in each bound lane. A lot of people go flying 80+ Mph in speed zones ranging from 60-65 mph. The speed limit is real inconsistent as it changes every 3/4 to 1 mile throughout the Grand Parkway. Watch your surroundings constantly also as DPS and other law enforcement agencies can just sneak upon you and pull you over when least expect it.

Lamar Drive by Deaf Smith School

Richmond, TexasJul 12, 20100 Comments

There is construction on Lamar Drive right now & the road is temporarily closed but will probably be open by the time school starts again. It is one of the worst speed traps in Richmond. The cop parks right off Lamar Drive on Crestwood and gets folks when they turn onto Lamar Drive from FM 1640 which is also known as Avenue I or when they approach the school from the other direction. The speed limit is 20mph because it is a school but it is so easy to go over the limit as you make the turn from the FM highway. Richmond gets a huge amount of money from tickets issued at this location and every single school day several tickets are issued to drivers between about 7:15a.m. and 8:15a.m. (just estimating the time) Be careful!! Even the city judge warns people about this location!!

Skinner Rd on the straight part between McCrary and Morton

Richmond, TexasMay 20, 20100 Comments

Up to three Fort Bend County Sherrif’s deputies, usually on motorcycles, sit in a dirt road enterance to private property on Skinner road, and use their handheld radar to stop motorists. The speed limit is 35, but most people in the mornings and afternoons drive 40-50 on the straight away.

Harlem Road near State Highway 90A

Richmond, TexasFeb 25, 20080 Comments

Fort Bend County Sheriff Deputies and Texas DPS commonly sit in a parking lot of an athletic field and monitor traffic, sometimes stepping to roadside with a hand-held radar gun. Parking lot is surrounded by trees and will be patrol cars will be concealed when trees are full of leaves. Speed Limit is 45, traffic flows normally here about 55 – 60, though it is a two-lane blacktop, with ditches and no shoulders.

McCrary Road near Brandt Road

Richmond, TexasSep 09, 20070 Comments

Motorcyle officers park in secondary drive ways south of Brandt Rd, north of F.M. 359.

They, I have seen as many as three at a time, are usually there toward the end of the month. With the speed limit at 35 mph, it is an easy place for officers to fulfill their monthly quota.
