Hwy 106 about 2 miles from I-65   Georgiana, Alabama

At 4AM came through Georgiana in order to get to I-65. Held to strictly enforced construction zone 45 MPH. Went through populated portion of Georgiana at 35MPH. Did not observe change but roadway in forested area is 4-lane, divided highway. Stopped less than 1 mile from I-65 for doing 51 in what the officer said was a 35MPH all the way to and through the Interstate. Clearly a trap. Also look at the traffic fine structure for Alabama. Abusive because it encourages this sort of behavior by law enforcement. It's not about safety. If it were, how about putting up better signage, billboard, or other legitimate traffic controls? Bad use of police and just a bad place.

coming off I65 eastbound towards Georgiana   Georgiana, Alabama

55 mile an hour sign is right off the exit, then it goes to 45 in a non-populated stretch, then immediately down 35. Even though I was under 60, I was giving a ticket for going 60 in a 45. There were 4 Georgiana police pulling over people on a Saturday. All out of state tags. Amazing! I've driven through this town for years - 1st time I have even seen a cop. Drove back through the same area a few weeks later - no cops-drove through downtown - all 4 cop cars parked a city municipal building. They must only give tickets on Saturdays.

Off of I-65   Georgiana, Alabama

Getting off I-65, the speed limit goes from 55, to 45, and then to 35 withing a short amount of time. Add in a hill, and you get the perfect spot to get all the out of towners coming through that place. It took us calling the clerk of the court to instruct the officer to turn in his ticket against us(two weeks later)! Alabama is a rip off. If you want to TRY for traffic school, then you have to go to court and ask the judge for permission. Let's see, take a day off of work, see if you get permission for traffic school, or just pay the ticket. Stay away from Georgiana!

Going on 106 West toward Interstate 65   Georgiana, Alabama

I was driving through Alabama ( Butler County) on 106 West and going through Georgiana on a two lane expressway and I was pulled over by a cop who was flying behind me (it scared me) in an unmarked black vehicle. He almost hit me and asked me what the speed limit was? I said "55" He said well, yes, it is 55 going up the hill but 45 mph at the bottom of the hill. I did not see this 45 mph sign but beware. It is hard to go 45 mph going downhill on an expressway.....

Mobile Rd & S Holland Ave   Georgiana, Alabama

866 Highway 31 South will give you a better idea of where I am talking about.......There is about a mile stretch of road here where Butle County Magnet School is that you better watch your speed. All the speed limit signs through here were wrong up until a few days ago but that did not stop the cops from pulling people over of course. The Flashing School Zone sign is still wrong according to State Specs and it is noted that this Flashing Light has malfunctioned. When this light is not flashing the speed limit through this area is 55mph. When I recieved my ticket the speed limit signs went from 55 to 45 to 35 to 25 all within spitting distance of each other. There is no reduce speed ahead signs or school zone ahead signs warning that the speed drops from 55 to 25 within a blick of an eye. And keep in mind....its only 25 when the lights are flashing but no one in Geogiana knows exactly when these lights are suppose to flash. And good luck if you even see it flash since the light is so small!

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
