Highway 28 right past the water tanks going toward town.   Columbiana, Alabama

Speed drops from 50 to 45 and right around the curve it is 35 and then immediately 25 past the school. Now this is fine when school is going on but it is rediculous any other time and at times a policeman sits up in the curve down from Highway 28 looking down on you and with a radar gun.

County Trunk Highway 47 near Old Courthouse/Roundabout/Howard Tire   Columbiana, Alabama

Coming into town from the south, just below Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home, the speed limit drops from 45 to 35, then drops to 25 as you pass the funeral home. Just over the hill past the funeral home, speed limit drops to 25 as you are coming down the hill, and then drops to 15 as you approach the roundabout. Late at night, when I am going to work, I often see a Columbiana Police car sitting in front of the service bay doors at Howard Tire. If you look carefully, just as you top the hill you will see the car facing you from the Howard Tire parking lot past the bottom of the hill. The car is almost always "blacked out," meaning that they are sitting in a dark area without lights. They often sit there running radar on any vehicles coming over the hill, knowing full well that your speed may increase as you come down the hill, where the speed limit abruptly drops to 15 mph. I've never been stopped, as I know where they like to hide, and I'm always ready for them. However, an unsuspecting driver will fall into their trap, almost without fail.

About 100 yrds south of the 26 intersection there is some worh being done on the side of the road. there is an accsess road cut into the side of the hill. he likes to sit on that road ta night most of the time in a dark car. The hill is higher than the car ojn both sides and you can't see the car at all untill you are right in front of him.
