Mount Prospect, Illinois Speed Traps
Intersection of West Lonnquist Blvd. and South Byron Ct
I’ve seen a police car sitting there on several occasions. Speed at your own risk.
On Central between Rand Rd on the West & Wolf Rd on the West
The cops sit in the parking lot by the West fence in St. Emily’s Catholic School and Church and actually sometimes sit in a lawn chair in the front lawn with a radar gun. The speed limit is 35 but drivers see the open stretch between lights at Rand and Wolf and speed up. Being a school, it’s actually not a bad idea for this trap.
On Oakton between Elmhurst Road and Busse.
They sit about an 1/8 mile just west of Elmhurst Road in an Apartment Complex and then down about 1/2 mile in the trailer park. This applies to West bound traffic as East bound is Unincorporated Cook County.
Central road and Williams street
Heading west on central towards Elmhurst Road there is some what of a hill and you cannot see beyond it. Cops sit on William Street and position themselves behind a tree therefore you cannot see them while they are clocking you in.
Northwest Hwy entire length through mt. prospect.
Mt. Prospect gains a ton of revennue because of their ridiculously extended 30 mph speed zone on NW Hwy. When headed southeast, the limit is lowered to 30 by the Shell station, which is several blocks before Central, and nearly a mile before Downtown Mt. Prospect. When headed northwest, it is lowered by Bruce’s Automotive shop, which is a half a mile from Downtown MP. They primarily run radar from the metra parking lots, the shell station, bruce’s automotive, orthe fire station. It looks like a normal parked car at first, but its not until after he has clocked your speed that you realize its a cop. Watch out for unmarked silver and black crown victorias also. Also, don’t speed to or past 40 until you passed the 40 sign.
