Rhome, Texas Speed Traps
Feeder Road near Bank/Housing Development
Down from Wells Fargo bank is a feeder road that leads to Ellis Homestead and back to 287/114. It is 30 mph on that road, and now that Rhome is a locally patrolled area, they will catch you going faster than the posted speed limit. It’s stupid that through town it’s 40 mph, and this non-frequently-travelled feeder road is posted as 10 mph less, but don’t speed on it as easy as it would be to do. Trust me; I grew up in a house off that very road! Now I avoid that road as much as possible b/c I am so tempted to speed on it, even subconsciously!
US Highway 387 near US Highway 114
The speed limit in this area is 70, 65 at night. This is near the city of Rhome. State Troopers constantly patrol the Wise County to Tarrant County area, where the speed limit drops to 65. At night, if they are out, you Will be pulled over for going over 65 in the 70 MPH area posted 65 at night. This is a remote rural stretch of the highway.
State Highway 114 near State Highway 287
I got this ticket after exiting 287 to get onto 114 heading east towards the texas motor speed way. It has two lanes for each direction of traffic and did not see a posted speed limit sign. I figured 65 would be a safe bet nope it is 55 and the posted cop did not pull me over just took a picture and got a ticket in the mail. I was not going any faster than the flow of traffic so I figure that that 65 was the limit due to other people passing the cop and not getting pulled over. Well myself and another dozen folks got or will be getting mail in the next few days.

State Highway 114 near US Highway 287
As you exit off of US 287 onto 114, the speed limit is not well marked. The stretch of road is a median divided four lane which is not congested. The police sit in the median and by the time you see them, it’s too late. The officer claims it is a 55 zone but it should be 60 or 65 due to the design of the road. Be careful.
