Hurricane, West Virginia Speed Traps
Virginia Avenue
This street is filled with meth-heads but they ticket for speeding over 20 mph. Its a residential area but it doesn’t matter, they still sit there at times. Officer will never let you off….ever!
Just south of Church of Christ across creek from Middle Scho
Posted speed limit is 45 (out of 30) where straight stretch starts in front of yellow house going south bound, north bound sigh 30 (out of 45) posted on down from yellow house abut 1/10 to 1/4 mile. If you aren’t going 30 when you pass the 45 till you pass the other 30 you will be ticketed. City officer Moore stopped and said I was going 18 over the limit when it was really 3. Watch some will let you by but Moore and a couple other will not let you off. Paid hefty fine
Midland Trail near Main Street
Anyone going down Main through Hurricane had better watch their speed. If you drive by Hurricane Middle School up Midland trail you will probably be sitting in the liquor store parking lot with at least 4 or 5 police cars. I have seen as many as 8 cars for one simple traffic stop (a man was driving under suspension). They’ll get you for speeding but they never get any drunks leaving the store.

Cow Creek Road near State Highway Rt. 34
Hurricane City Police say they have complaints from residents on Cow Creek Rd. They use radar and are very strict about the 35 mph limit. I have gotten a ticket for going 44 mph. They are there several times a week.
Interstate I-64 near Exit Number 34
Hurricane City Officers will sit within 1 mile of each side of Hurricane Exit 34 of I-64. Very little leeway given over the 70mph posted limit.
