Hoover, Alabama Speed Traps
Valleydale Road near Interstate 65
The portion of Valleydale Road that passes under I-65 has been 4-laned. The speed limit was lowered to 30MPH due to the road construction. The construction has been finished for some time but the speed limit remains at 30. The 2-lane portion of the road on either side carries a speed limit of 45MPH. The Hoover Police hide behind trees on each end of the 4-lane to catch people who don’t slam on the brakes & get their speed down to 30. They will also double the fine stating that you are speeding in a construction zone even though no workers have been in the area for over a month.
Valleydale Road near Interstate 65
Getting off I65 onto Valleydale Rd you’ll see anywhere from 2 to 5 Hoover police hiding behind the bushes past the BP station and a bit further down on the left of the road. You have to be blind not to see them. The speed limit is 45mph, but it’s been going from 45 to 30 and back because of recent construction. Even at night though when there’s no traffic at all I’ve seen Hoover pull over cars that were only going about 5mph over. It’s ridiculous. Be careful.
Patton Chapel Road near Simmons Middle School
Motor cop sits out of site and will pick you off easily. Speed limit is 35. Way too easy to speed. Someone is constantly pulled over in the church parking lot down the street.
Shades Crest Road near Park Avenue
Officer sets in Yard of anyone that is not home and you don’t see him until you are right on him because of the trees and bushes that are lined up on both sides of road.
