Edmonton City Police make excessive undue use of photo radar. It’s like they think there’s something "special" about Edmonton vs. pretty much every other jurisdiction in North America. Be careful!
34th Street near Driveway 3 blocks north of train tracks
The County of Strathcona uses a blue GMC ‘Jimmy’ or a white Ford Van which faces north and is usually parked in an entrance to an office on the east side of the road. The survaillance is at all and any time of the day or night. Using this at night is certainly a cash cow as not many use this road at night, but those that do, do not keep to the 60kph posted speed.
23 Avenue near 85 Street
I have seen laser radar set up here a few times. They position themselves on 85 St (north side of 23 ave), and catch people going West on 23 ave. They usually park a cruiser up in the corner, and a cop with a radar gun hides behind it and gets you before you can ever see them. Then they pull you over and give you a ticket on 85 St.
