Between S Candy Lane and Hwy 89A (E Cottonwood Street) Westbound. Police usually get 4-5 every night. Maverick gas station is on the corner at 89A.
12th street by the DMV office
About 3 pm on weekday The motorcycle cop sits and waits, radaring people to see if they are doing 25 mph.
On Mingus Road headed east out of town
where the speed limit changes from 25 to 35, they sit there just waiting to get ya. usually people are driving 30+ because there is very little traffic and it feels like the speed should be faster… and the officer loves it!
Hwy 260
Going into Cottonwood from Camp Verde, when the speed limit drops from 55 to 45. They sit right where the 4 lane goes to 2 lane before the 1st subdivision. They were in an unmarked red Chrysler had someone pulled over.
Black Hills Drive near US Highway 89A
Cottonwood Police Unit sits on one of the residential side street intersections with the radar aimed down Black Hills Drive, ostensibly to keep students from Yavapai Community college from speeding. They will stop anyone travelling over 30mph. Speed trap is limited to school hours, 7:30a-9:30p. This is the only area in Cottonwood city limits with targeted enforcement.
