Coffee Pot Drive between Sanborn and Yavapai Sts

Sedona, ArizonaMar 15, 20100 Comments

Patrol car sits in Bashas’ parking lot or in dirt lot near the Oak Creek Brewery. Coffee Pot is a steep hill with many blind driveways. There is a speed bump on the street, and if you go around it, you will be pulled over. Cars leaving Yavapai St where the brewery is located are also closely watched. The speed limit is 25 mph on Coffee Pot Dr, however due to the steep grade of the street, it is easy to zoom up to 40 simply by coasting down the hill. Recently, many tickets have been given in this area, particularly to drivers with out-of-state license plates.

Dry Creek Road near Lizard Head

Sedona, ArizonaMar 15, 20100 Comments

Patrol car sits on west side of Dry Creek Road, about 1 mile past Thunder Mountain Road. Near the cross streets of White Bear Rd and Dry Creek, there is a sign with the speed limit of 25 that displays how fast you’re going. Just past Thunder Mountain Road, the limit increases to 35. It is a gently undulating wide and nicely paved road with good visibility that leads to pricey homes, resorts, and trail heads. Dry Creek Road has a rural feel, so you would expect the speed limit to be at least 50 (or more) so traffic often moves along at a good clip. Expect to find a patrol car hiding in a pull-out for a trail head near lizard head or chimney rock trails with a radar gun. There is a lot of revenue to be made on this street.

Highway 89A between medical center & past High school

Sedona, ArizonaMar 09, 20100 Comments

Highway 89A is 40 MPH past the traffic light at Red Rock Loop Road where the high school is. I found out the hard way that the 55 speed limit BEGINS at the 55 sign, not the intersection. Police also park at the condo entrance as well as by the medical center.

Police Car parks occasionally on side of street halfway down block watching traffic moving up and down Airport Rd. plus Stop signs. Valley View Dr. is the first street on Right when driving Up Airport Rd. in the middle of Sedona.

State Hwy 179 & State Hwy 89 Alt Scn

Sedona, ArizonaMay 21, 20090 Comments

You may imagine that at 11:30 pm on a Wednesday night all the trappers would be home in bed. Not so. I received only a warning for allegedly doing 37 in a 25 zone, but others might be less fortunate. The patrol car was parked with lights off somewhere near the intersection of 89A and 179.
