Carlsbad, California Speed Traps
Carlsbad aka Coast Highway Boulevard near Tamarack Avenue
A motorcycle cop hides in a turn through in the median between the power plant and Tamarack and radars pointing south (northbound traffic). He then has 1-2 buddies waiting up the hill near Tamarack who get called on the radio and pull you over. With summer here and lots of beach traffic, they love nailing people at lunch time along this absurdly low speed limit stretch of road.
Carlsbad Boulevard near Ponto Road
Ridiculous. No cross streets, no houses, and the speed limit is 35 MPH. Motorcycle police regularly hide in the left turn lanes South of Tamarack St. to trap unsuspecting drivers. You have been warned.

If traveling westbound on Cannon Road, the speed trap is located on the right hand side of the street. Carlsbad PD motorcycle units are stationed on a small access road behind the brush near Hemingway. They are there only during the morning hours 6:30 – 8 a.m.
