Carson, California Speed Traps
Interstate 405 near Exit Number Carson St.
2 Motorcycle officers wait in the median of the 405 (just N. of Carson St. exit) to catch speeders and carpool violators on either direction
Del Amo Boulevard near Main Street
When heading east on Del Amo Blvd, theres a vast open field and a little alcove that the officer sits in. Sometimes its a black and white with all lights off, other times its an unmarked with a plain clothes officer. They sit and wait for someone to blow past in either direction and they go after them. Posted speed is 40, but most go 55 or 60. I have yet to see a Motorcycle cop though.
Figueroa Street near 190th Street
LA Sheriffs motorcycle officer is placed on east side curb, monitoring north bound traffic, just before flood control channel. Some small trees hide his position. Uses older K-band radar. Location is near empty office complex so traffic is light and area gives false impression of being empty.
Avalon Boulevard near CSU Dominguez Hills
LA County Sheriff sets up a speed trap where you think the officer pulled someone over, so it doesn’t matter. As you pass the "pulled over" patrol car that has his lights on, the officer walks around and shines his maglight at you to warn you to slow down. Then out of nowhere he gets in his car, races up to catch up to you, and you’re busted!
Figueroa Street near South of 405 Freeway overpass to Del Amo Street
Commercial district. Traffic never heavy. Speed limit posted:40 but unrealistic. Parallel streets; same speed limit with much more traffic leading into freeway entrance but not enforced.
