Glendale, California Speed Traps
Hermosita Road near Santa Maria Road
At around 7 at night there is usually a cop in a car parked behind another car to be hidden. He is usually about 50 feet away from where Hermosita and Country Club Rd. meet.
2 Fwy South Expressway near US Highway 134
Usually are cops taking radar shots from the transition ramp from the 134 E. Be careful anywhere from the 5 to Mountain Street (S. to N.). I almost always see folks getting tickets in this stretch, most commonly on the Southbound side of the 2.
Chevy Chase Avenue near State Highway 2
The cops will usually set a speed trap ranging from the intersection of Harvey and Chevy Chase, all the way to Chevy Chase and Lida. However, most of the speed traps are set early in the Canyon, usually near Oakglen (after the mechanic’s garage) on either side of the street.
Canada Boulevard near Opechee Street
Officer hiding on Opechee, targets cars going both way on Canada boulevard.
Mountain Av. Southbound bet.. 2 fwy and Glendale Blvc.
City motor unit parks in driveway of Glendale Community College and clocks people going downhill. In some cases he/she pulls the person over but it takes time to stop the person because the police unit has to wait for traffic to clear and this is an especially busy length of street. I have also seen many instances (at least twice a month) when the unit radios ahead to other units at the bottom of the hill and they do the actual stopping and citing of vehicles.
Note that this is an extremely steep hill that traffic is descending, and 95% are coming off of the freeway. Posted speed limit is 25 because it is a school zone, yet it is virtually impossible to travel 25 mph in the stretch.
