Irvine, California Speed Traps
Jamboree Rd. between Edinger & Barranca
The middle of the lazy S turn. Motorcycle troopers hide behind the bushes on the offramp divider in the westbound lane, and behind the sound-baffle wall on the east bound.
Irvine Blvd, between Yale and Culver.
Cop just sits at an entrance to another street and watches for speeders. Speed limit is 55. This is a nice open 4 lane road with barely any cars so people tend to go a bit fast, so cops frequently patrol this area. Supposedly 85% go 60mph, so you can go at most 5 mph +/- the speed limit (cop told me that when I got caught going 68mph). If you do, and still get a ticket, fight it with the 85% argument.
Jamboree at I-405
Irvine PD in white Ford Vics or motocycle sit on Jamboree (heading west) after the 405 overcross at the crossed out portion of the road by the right side before the traffic light. He watches for speeding car on Jamboree going west. You can’t see him until you are over the over-cross which is already too late.
Jamboree and Warner
South bound, cop sits at bridge and aims north as one comes over the hill. (Note: fight this as there is no traffic survey since SR261 opened.) I beat this ticket and found the cop had expired calibration on laser gun and he could’t produce valid training certificate.
Irvine Center Drive between Redhill and Jamboree
motor officers will be by fence of military site on eastbound side. motors work mon. to fri. 7:00am to 7:00pm only (never in the rain) so this is a nice quiet spot to sit during late morning.
