Irvine, California Speed Traps
Laguna Canyon Road N/B upon entering City of Irvine (posted)
The moment you start the downhill ?mi before the I-405 freeway you are clocked for the 1/4 mile stretch. Two officers. One outside w/ radar will stand at side of road no hat on and looks like a commuter until you are close enough. By then you are way too late if you exceeded 65 on posted 55. He will flag you down. If you dont stop you are in for possible jailtime depending on how close he placed himself on the side of the road as you passed. Unless you are in a capable vehicle to breakaway to the toll road 😉 you may as well pull over and face Irvine’s wrath. PS: If you do have a capable vehicle, I still do not recommend a high speed evasive escape, as you must exceed 170 on the short SR-133 Laguna Fwy for possible success. It’s not worth it. If there is a next time, I will have it on video for you.
University & Culver Dr.
Motorcycle cop sitting at the bus stop at University & Culver, pointing his Laser gun at people as they come down University towards UCI from the 405 offramp.
lake forest between jamboree and murilands
Traveling from jamboree towards murilands. On the right side of the road … just after the slight left hand curve, there is a motorcycle cop that sits in an unused driveway. You can’t see him until it’s too late. He is VERY agressive.
Culver Dr, b/w Campus and Newport Coast
Posted speed is 55. Motorcycle units will hide in the bushes along the two-lane stretch of Culver. Other times patrol cars frequent the stretch b/w Campus and Newport Coast with Ka-band radar. Radar/laser detector will go off too late, but you can pick off the patrol cars (watch out! They do have rear facing radar just like the CHP). No breaks; I’ve heard someone get cited for 57 in a 55 with a boatload of other equipment violations piled on top of it.
