State Highway 580 near Vasco Street

Livermore, CaliforniaJan 16, 20080 Comments

From 4:30pm to about 6:00pm CHP will sit on both sides of the west bound lanes on the downhill side of the Altimont Pass. Their favorite spots are just before or just after the truck scales off in the brush. They generally use an all white sedan along with several black and white sedans. your radar detector may be confused be the radar at the truck scales, so it’s hard to tell if you are being targeted. The best policy is to slow down to the posted 65mph until you pass Vasco road. Although there may be a couple of black and whaes after Vasco, they are usually handing out tickets to the poor souls that were going 70mph, or faster, down the hill.

Buena Vista Avenue near Tesla Road

Livermore, CaliforniaOct 24, 20070 Comments

CHP monitors the road with the Sheriff’s department and with cooperation from residents. Posted speed is 25 mph and 15 mph with the speed bumps. Residents take down information on the speeding drivers and turn you in to the CHP. You will get a ticket. Do not speed down this street, even though you do not see an officer and it looks safe to do so. It looks like a little country road, where a bunch of old timers live, harmless enough to speed through, but watch out. Time of day doesn’t matter, although its worst at commute times.
