Malibu, California Speed Traps
State Highway Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu Canyon Road
South of Malibu Canyon on the southbound side the speed limit is reduced from 50 to 45 while there is a steep downhill slope. A motorcycle cop sits with a radar gun around the curve to the right at an entrance to the mall there. I’ve seen him there on numerous occasions and have seen cars pulled over. I always watch my speed here.
US Highway Pacific Coast Hwy near Big Rock Drive
Southbound PCH after Big Rock Drive Saturday and Sunday Mornings 7am – 10am, mainly in the summer months Rising sun makes it difficult to see motorcycle police who hide under the tree and behind parked cars on the west side. With the sun blinding the driver you cannot see these police until it’s too late.
Kanan Drive near US Highway 101
Motorcyclists frequent this area, especially on weekends, due to great canyon rides on nearby Latigo Canyon Rd and Mulholland Hwy. Many sportbike riders enjoy the "faster paced" ride-ability of these roads, but accidents and extreme speeds have caught the attention of LAPD. Located on Mulholland Hwy is "The Rock Store", an extremely popular MC hangout. Law enforcement usually travels in groups of 2-4 cars and MC. Recently the LAPD took news crews to this area to "prove" their point on national TV. Have fun but be cautious.
Kanan Dume Road near State Highway Pacific Coast
Driving towards the ocean/PCH on Kanan as you make one of the last turns there is a dirt area on the side of the road where officers hide just about every morning. You can see the ocean very clearly so people are usually distracted by the view. Luckily many motorists on this road flash their lights to warn oncoming traffic.
State Highway Pacific Coast near Latigo Street
Gaining a tiny bit of speed when going down the slight hill heading south on PCH right before you pass latigo canyon, police will ticket you. I am not even sure where they hide to be honest.
