Northridge, California Speed Traps

Patrol car sits at corner of Tulsa St and Balboa Blvd (between San Fernando Mission Blvd and Chatsworth St) with radar gun for morning rush hour moving south on Balboa. The speed limit is 35 mph for this six lane road just off of the freeway.You may be OK at 40mph but not much more.

Motor officers park in private driveways in the shade and out of site to the unwary between Zelzah and Louise Ave. on the south side of the street. Enforcement can be brutal on this 6 lane thouroughfare, posted at 40 but regularly used at 45-50 mph.

There is almost always a cop on a motorcycle hiding behind some parked cars on the right side of reseda before you get the light at Lassen. If you are a parked car looking to merge and make a uturn, DO not make the uturn until you have made it to the middle turning lane. You cannot make a uturn from a parked position..

Heading east on Lassen St, when you cross Balboa, there is a McDonalds. Just before that McDonalds is an alley that motorcycle police love to hide in. I’ve seen several people get caught just before I pass.

Motor cop sits at the bottom of the hill on Balboa past Calahan St. in the shade and shoots radar for S/B traffic for as little as 50 in the posted 35 zone [posted 35 even though there are no houses, businesses, driveways, streets, or anything else in that block, and, as per the local LAPD traffic division, NO T/C’s in at least 20 months there].
