Foothill Boulevard near 210 Freeway Bypass

Pasadena, CaliforniaNov 20, 20070 Comments

For eastbound traffic, they set up on Titley Ave., just after the statuary shop. For westbound traffic, they set up on Maple Ave., which is the access road just past the PCC extension. The officer that gave me a ticket used laser, but I think they use radar as well. The officer usually drives a motorcycle. They set up shop any time of month, but more frequently at the ends of the month when quotas are due.

Orange Grove Avenue near South of California Blvd.

Pasadena, CaliforniaNov 13, 20070 Comments

Officer on motorcycle hides on East side of Orange Grove (either on a side street or in a driveway) and points the radar gun at passing cars driving northbound on Orange Grove, between Columbia St. and California Blvd. (Most often seen on weekdays, between 8 and 10 AM.)

Los Robles Avenue near City limits with South Pasadena

Cop with a speed gun is stationed at the blind spot in the downhill curve — you can see him till it, and it’s real easy to pick up speed in this section of the road. Another cop is staked out further down to stop and ticket you based on whatever the speed gun reading was. Not there all the time — most prevalent at the end of the month, when the quotas are due.

Madre Avenue near Colorado Boulevard

Pasadena, CaliforniaOct 17, 20070 Comments

Motorcycle patrol sits on sidewalk in front of firewood store and you can not see them. They are also looking for illegal left turn from middle lane of south bound Madre onto east bound Colorado which is a common mistake people make.

E.Walnut St. Street near Hill Street

Pasadena, CaliforniaOct 16, 20071 Comments

Morning commute on Walnut St. between Hill St. and Lake Ave. Motorcycle sits by the tire shop on walnut with radar. The speed limit is a 30MPH, very slow for the area. The police have a very high success rate with this extremely lucrative speed trap. They wrote me a ticket for 35 in a 30 zone at 6:15am with virtually no traffic.
