Torrance, California Speed Traps
Anza Avenue
Motorcycle cop sits in parking lot across from Starbucks nailing people who speed up to make the light. Going North on Anza it’s a blind rise through the intersection and you won’t spot the cop until it’s too late. Posted speed limit is 35mph, way below the average speed.
Crenshaw Avenue near 190th Street
Right before 190th going down Crenshaw, there’s the refinary and a cop will sit in one of the exits for the trucks in the morning and gun people. Speed limit is 45mph but people go well past that.
Prairie Road near 190th Street
As you are going south on Prairie ave and passing Columbia park, right before 190th street there are usually two cops on motorcycles sitting in the parking lot of Columbia park waiting to pick off anyone speeding south on Prairie.
Prairie Avenue near 190th Street
As you head North on Prairie Avenue a few hundreed feet before 190th Street, a motorcycle cop hides in the Mobil Refinery side entrance driveway, that’s closed, behind a fence. You can’t see him until it’s too late.
Many drive faster than the posted speed limit, which I think is 40 mph.
