East Parkway Drive near Yosemiti Street

Lone Tree, ColoradoMay 30, 20070 Comments

Lone Tree Black and White waits in the Don Massey drive way or the Bozart drive way and catches drivers coming in both directions on East Parkway. It’s posted 35 on this four lane straight road, no schools or residents. Just the two car dealerships. It’s a common short cut to avoid the E470 exchange on Quebec street.

State Highway 470 near Quebec Street

Eastbound C470 between Quebec and Yosemite after rush hour (usually after 9am). Lone Tree stages four or five officers (some on motorcycle along this corridor) both east and west bound C470. Officers use LTI Laser equipment. They scan from vehicle to vehicle and apparently produce what’s know as "slip effect". It’s a ticket assembly line. According to my speedo, I was driving at 72mph in a 65 with the flow of traffic (GPS verified speedo to be faster than my actual speed)… Officer said he got me on laser doing 77mph – thus bumping me into the 4 point ticket category (Officer told me that my GPS unit was Not a callibrated device (my GPS’s documented accuracy is +/- .2 knots which is much better than LTI laser equipment’s +/-1mph). The 77mph was impossible! Reference the following article about LTI equipment written by the BBC in the UK (http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/articles/2005/09/07/insideout_speedgun_feature.shtml?comment=response). Basically, officers can fool laser guns to say whatever they want them to say – especially scanning higher profile, light colored vehicles. I have solid theoretical formulas (basic highschool algebra and trigonometry based) in spreadsheets to prove this although without and expensive lawyer, I doubt any judge would admit it as evidence due to "over-complexity". I just paid the fine. The Lone Tree police department has about 22 officers for about 5900 residence which is about 3.73 officers per 1000 people. The national average for the US is about 2 officers for every 1000. Revenue generation is therefore at the forefront of their activities.

Park Meadows Drive near Interstate C470

C470 off of the Quebec and Yosemite Exits, funded for DUI in entertainment district. Very heavy on Yosemite between C470 and Lincoln. Coming off of I-25 onto Lincoln and turning on to Yosemite, is heavy also, especially at the Lonetree Library stop light.
