Yosemite North bound crossing County Line Road

Lone Tree, ColoradoSep 03, 20141 Comments

Just crossing County Line Road going North on Yosimite 500 feet into Arapahoe county a motorcycle deputy from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department is sitting in the exit from the Lazy Boy furniture store with a radar/lazer gun. There are no speed limit signs visible northbound but the deputy will pull you over and tell you that the speed limit is 35. Whatever speed you were doing he will show you the digital readout on radar/lazer gun and write you a ticket, and it”s easy to get a $100 one if you think the speed limit on this section of Yosemite is going to be 45 because it is a wide and stright wide four lane road with limited number of entrances for side traffic. Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office makes 44,000 traffic stops a year and collects one million six hundred thousand dollars in fines a year. So if you don”t want to contribute to their revenue drive slower in Arapahoe county or better yet don”t drive there at all.

Park Meadows Drive btwn. Acres Green Dr. & Yosemite St.

Compared to the other (east) side of Yosemite St., this stretch has a 35 mph speed limit (40 on the east side), milder curves, fewer businesses, fewer access points, and a medium. Conditions are right for the speed limits to be the opposite of what they are on the two sides of Yosemite St. I regularly see Lone Tree police with radar on this section.

Just east of I-25 it’s only 35mph…

I-25 & Lincoln

Lone Tree, ColoradoSep 06, 20100 Comments

I-25 and Park Meadows AND I-25 and the freeway exit on the east side of I-25 both have those camera speed traps. On the one at Park Meadows, they are pointed in pretty much every direction: I have even seen someone get nailed turning right in front of a protected left going the other way.

If headed east on Lincoln, watch out especially for people slamming on their brakes very early in the yellow on the one on the east side of I-25. Heading east you are going downhill, which can make stopping harder.

Officer sits in "construction zone" (no work going on) on a Sunday with light traffic – speed limit goes from 75 down to 55 in a vey short distance and clocks cars at 20 over the limit and fines are doubled for the "construction zone"
