As you approach Georgetown (from either direction), the speed limit drops to 30 mph and there’s usually a police car waiting not far past the speed limit sign. It’s especially bad in the summer, but they do it year-round, all times (I’ve seen them out there at 1:00 am when we were the only two cars for miles around).
US Highway 113 near County Jail
During daylight, the local Police stand on the shoulder of the northbound roadway, near their hidden cars with LIDAR. As motorists going north pass the County Jail and pass the "Welcome to Georgetown" sign, they are less than a mile ahead and get you with the laser before you can even see them. They step out and flag you over. They use two officers and can get two to three victims at a time. The speed limit is only 50 on this wide open straight stretch.Be careful in this town, they seem to have cops who love to write tickets.
