Washington, District of Columbia Speed Traps
Whitehurst Freeway Westbound
Total bogus. Right underneath the dip to the Key bridge.
Porter b/w Connecticut Ave and Rock Creek
Currently using unmarked Ford Sedan with Photo radar facing uphill on Porter
Western avenue between westmoreland circle and wisconsin avenue
All of Western Avenue is enforced by DC police. It is the dividing line beteen DC and Maryland but I think the road itself belongs to DC. The speed limit in DC is an amazing 25 miles per hour unless otherwise posted. If you are traveling on this stretch of road you better be going under 30 miles per hour. I have received a ticket from a DC officer with hand held radar parked along the South side of Western Avenue near the small market and I have received a photo ticket along this strip. There used to be a phot radar car there all day every day but I think everyone now must know about this trap because almost everyone does only 25 miles per hour and no one rides on anyones’ bumper. This must have been the biggest money maker in the District.
Pennsylvania Avenue SE at 295 North entrance
A patrol car with radar gun is normally parked on the shoulder at Pennsylvania Ave SE and waits for cars in the two insufficiently long left turning lanes to desperately try to enter 295 (by turning left and then having to merge into only one entrance lane) before the short-lived green traffic light turns red. Be willing to bear the wrath of angry drivers trying to make the light or be willing to risk a ticket from the radar gun. No other choice.
