Route 16 Idlewild Avenue going east past the junior high
There is a school zone in front of the junior high school on Idlewild Avenue. Police will hide on a side street with radar guns. The speeder usually (almost always) turns onto Roberts Street. The police car follows and parks right in front of a “No Parking” sign. Evidently, the Green Cove Barney Fifes are exempt from parking signs.
The Green Cove Police are bored. They’ll pull you over for anything. Try not to add to the city funds.
Two locations one at 17 and 16 and one on 17 in town
Not only do we have Green Cove Barney Fife sitting under the old Fred Davis car lot overhang taking pictures… be more careful on US 17 through town. Two red light cameras are in use 24/7 and they will get ya. One is at Houston street next to the court house and CVS, the other is at 16 west at the Walgreens corner. They take pictures whether you are going north or south. More money for GCPD… $108.00 a ticket for speeding through a red light. It will take a picture of your tag even if you’re caught in the intersection going through and it turns red while you are there.
RT 16
LOCAL POLICE LIKE TO SIT IN ENTRANCE TO BOAT DEALERSHIP RIGHT AFTER TURNING ON TO RT 16 FROM RT 17. USUALLY EARLY MORNING BUT SOMETIMES IN THE AFTERNOON.
Hwy 17 N
Right after passing the Elks Lodge on right, look for the Chinese restaurant on the right. City police love to sit in the parking lot late at night and in the morning when restaurant is closed.
